I believe they have a demo program you can download and try out for free at the Bookup web site. My main interest is in using Bookup to help improve my correspondence play and tracking my opening choices. It is good for practicing openings, too, but since I don't live where I can play OTB that's of no use to me anymore. Unlike Chessbase programs, I've never experienced a crash with Bookup 2000 (as far as I recall), but I do run it with database safety turned on, that slows it down but its only an issue if you want to run a big batch operation, like importing a pgn file, and you can turn this option off and back on. It's not very useful as a chess *playing* program, and Chess Assistant or ChessBase are better for just simply storing games - with Bookup you can do a better job of tracking info about positions. Oh, and Mike, "The Database Man", is very responsive and helpful. Cheers, Chuck
