You make a very good point about practice with computers. It will train you to avoid blunders. If you consistently do this, it will definitely improve your game. But humans will always make blunders and miss tactical opportunities. In order for a human player to become great, I think they must develop long term plans during the game. While I am nowhere near a GM strength, I have read some very good material by the best players and I think that my theory is true. I had an interesting email exchange with mig about that subject and it was a real eye opener also.
