I had a lot of problems with the trial version on my P4 machine, running under
the chessbase GUI... Every other engine was fine. Yet, on my 3 AMD boxes there
were no problems at all. I never got to the bottom of it. No pattern but always
a loss on time every so often. Once I saw it - during a game, CPU usage dropped
to zero, Fruit had disappeared from memory, and the loss on time ensued.
FruitWCCC'05 runs perfectly on that box as does every other engine - but Fruit
2.2.1 trial version has problems. I tried everything, uninstalled all the
chessbase products, ran a registry cleaner, re-installed, but the problem
remained. I just gave up and stopped using it on that box. Clearly a bug of some
sort. Perhaps it doesn't like Intel....
That box is now back running CM10th matches, and as expected 30 games so far of
200 without any problems. As normal - the box runs perfectly until you let Fruit
2.2.1 trial version loose on it
