Man are you in luck today. You came to the right place to get advice on how to learn chess without really trying. Download winboard and arena. Play at least 2 games a day vs.any of the computer chess games in arena. Soon you will be playing like a real chess player. Before you know it you would have learned at least a few good opening without a lot of book reading. Good luck, Gerold.
