Subject: UCI engines performance under Fritz GUI?

Dear friends,
Can you share your experience about speed of UCI or Winboard engines under Fritz
or ChessBase GUI compared to their native GUI?

I do not use ChessBase GUI at my Opteron workstation, and when comparing Deep
Shredder 9.1 UCI on my single CPU laptop (P-IV 2 GHz, RAM 1 GB) I get around
250-380 kn/s depending on position under Shredder UCI GUI, while under Fritz 8
GUI it is around 150-230 kn/s. Hashtables size is usually 512 MB.

This hardly differs from results reported by Tomas Casanovas Martinez under SMP:
"Its speed is roughly equal in both GUIs (Junior 9 and own GUI). Around 450.000
moves/second between moves 15 to 20 and around 750.000 moves/second in the
endgame.":

The only explanation I can see is in ChessBase UCI bridge implementation slowing
down switching between contexts of engine and GUI. Under SMP this is not the
case because OS can assign engine and GUI separate CPUs.
