I've been impressed by Fritz 9's aggressive nature - I really think Franz has
created a monster of an engine. I decided to see how well Fritz 9 would cope
with the white side of the Halloween Attack, where white gives up a knight for a
pawn and space advantage. If you haven't heard about it Halloween Attack you'll
find some info here:

Crafty seemed like a good opponent due to its solid playing style. You can see
the game below; played at tournament time controls. As you can see Fritz 9 won
convincingly. A couple of points to note - firstly Fritz's positional
understanding is obviously much better than previous versions - it shows a +ve
score for white by move 9. Also I've never seen a game where Crafty has
miss-predicted so many of its opponents moves - possibly an indicator of the
different styles of the two engines.
This was a fun game - enjoy!
