Hi Joshua,

I partly answered why we use eMule software (with both eDonkey and KAD networks)
here: http://www.talkchess.com/forums/1/message.html?460868

eMule supports swarming of course. Each shared file is split up into pieces that
can be collected in any order. All connected peers use "source exchange"
mechanism which means that they exchange their known sources from time to time.
By this way any new sources quickly become known by all peers downloading the
file. There is no automatic upload priority for peers that download same file
with you, which is good becauses I think it is a form of leeching.

>Curious but why eDonkey?

It's more suitable for long term sharing of huge data, in my experience. Also it
was the preference of few people who started this project.

Best,
Kirill
