The exact proposed model would be completely equivalent to the current scoring system. In effect, you just introduce a penalty of half a point for playing a game, and then multiply the scores with two. When everybody plays the same number of games, this means no difference to the current scoring system. To make a score system essentially different from the current, you would have to grant a draw a different score than the average of a win and a loss. For instance, you could use the soccer system 0 for loss 1 for draw 3 for win Equivalent would be 0 for loss 1/3 for draw 1 for win or -1 for loss 0 for draw 2 for win Any system that grants draws a score equal to the average of the score of a win and a loss would be equivalent to the current scoring system.
