Goofy stuff happens everywhere. I had an admin on ICC spoof my program so that
it would play him at time controls it otherwise wouldn't play. I had another
admin make a clearly wrong adjudication at my opponent's request, and when I
asked why, I was told that humans are given the benefit of the doubt, since the
computer won't care either way.

These are just a couple of examples on that server. I'm sure fics and chess.net
would have done similar stuff if I had spent as much time there.

I could have taken either of these instances, made a giant shrieking fuss about
it, threatened to post all of this on the net if nothing was done to correct it,
and then started a public campaign if I didn't get my way.

I think that instead I simply complained for a while on the server and then got
over it. It never occurred to me to take these cases to the general public.

I'm not banned on the server, the admin that spoofed me doesn't spoof me
anymore, the adjudicate business has not repeated, and if the owners of the
server think I'm a complete jerk, at least they are still scheduling me for GM
30 0 matches and occasionally they extend my account expiration. Good enough
for me.

This current controversy seems stupid. Fine, an admin messed up. Big deal. I
say go on with life, rather than making melodramatic comments about having one's
hand cut off. It's not like there has been a systematic pattern of abuse
demonstrated, it was just one incident involving someone who seems to tend to be
involved in incidents.
