I agree when Steve wrote about >how Genius6 is strong in endgames. So do I, the endgame is the major strength of the Genius 6 engine. In the days of Genius 1, 2 and 3 I was a great fan of Richard Lang's programs. Unfortunately, since version 3 it seems that the engine code has hardly been changed at all. Richard has added a (very good) learning function and some new mate finding extensions, apart from this I haven't noticed any changes the last few years. The Genius 6 engine was especially disappointing to me. I haven't done any tests, but I doubt that more than a few lines of code has been changed compared to Genius 5. I am very impressed by the new GUI, however. It is vastly superior to the GUI in Fritz or Junior. The new multi-engine capabilities are of course also very interesting. My version of Genius 6 (I have downloaded the first patch from the Millennium Web Site, but not the second) has one extremely annoying bug: It is not possible to switch off the sound! Does anybody know if this has been corrected in the latest patch? Tord
