I guess if we're both collecting dedicated chess computers then we can't be that far out of alignment. I do also play some correspondence chess (no OTB within astronomical units of where I live) and these days a PC is absolutely essential for that. The PC is both a boon and a bane as the saying goes. So when it comes to the 68060, which predates the Renaissance, anything that furthers the field of dedicated computer chess I am supporting. The 68060 was the only stronger release of a computer in more than 10 years. We can blame Novag and Saitek heavily for reshuffling a comatose market with no value added. Now the Renaissance is a great step forward. And a chance for Saitek to jump to the lead, if only it could be proven to be financially worthy to them. I personally would like to have their support behind the product, but if I can't get it and further Renaissance modules are made then I hope to buy one anyway. It's a shame the 68060 modification is permanent and not as clean as the Renaissance upgrade, but until the Renaissance it was all there was. Unfortunately, I don't have endless dollars to spend on the subject but given the drop in electronics prices, I can't understand why a nice wood or nearly as nice fake wood board can't be had for less than $500. That StrongArm CPU has got to be cheap these days. OK, now that I've vented, I'll offer my unrealistic wish list of top 5 computers that I don't have: 1. Renaissance 2. Fidelity Elite Premiere 3. Fidelity Elite Avant Garde V6, V9, or V10 (which I wouldn't modify) :) 4. TASC R40 (or R30 - but I guess I'll never get past all the scam auctions) 5. Mephisto Genius 68030 6. Mephisto Risc 1 or 2 (OK, I couldn't stop!) Now one day I'll get around to posting about those comps I do have. Until then... All Hail the Dedicated Champion Renaissance Fruit Regards, Chuck
