>This is sad indeed. It's strange that the market is now fueled only by ebay and >it's beyond me that no company is able to build a nice wooden computer with a >sufficient strenth for a decent price... (The Senator doesn't count for me). i agree with the Senator just too expensive but the dedicated market will never fully recover i think most people interested in a chess playing computer look to strength and how can a dedicated unit compete with a $25 PC program playing at or near 2800 ??.. for me..this was the appeal for Ruud's Resurrection .. at least SOMETHING was being released in the dedicated market that was new and also an improvement in terms of strength the price..well..of course..only very prosperous Mathematicians like you can manage to buy it :)) but i guess we have to look at this as we have 4-5 computers(diff engines)for the price i know i am stretching here but oh well :)) >His collection is amazing. This is something, honestly, I cannot fully >understand. :) it is to be sure i hope when you visited his Museum you did not say oh Karsten..these computers are just OLD and then yawn? :)) >The above mentioned do it in my case. From my point of perpective it's >reasonable to restrict myself to the most interesting playable units of the >mentioned years... :) of course its reasonable who knows..perhaps one day you might even look to the really old computers like a Fidelity Septennial or a Conchess Monarch and pick one up for a few laughs but when you do i think you will be hooked Best Steve
