Hi,
This seems to be one of the few positions where current Ikarus (development
version) does pretty well. It fails low on Ng4 in Ply 5, switches to Nd5, and
sticks to the latter for at least 3 minutes with a score around +0.5:
-> 5(22).37 00:00:00.3 +0.75 7. ... Nd5 8. Nxd5 exd5 9. Rb1 O-O
...
16(53).01 00:03:01 +0.47 7. ... Nd5 8. Nxd5 exd5 9. Nb5 Bxe3 10.
fxe3 O-O 11. Qd4 Nc6 12. Qxb6 axb6 13. Nc3 Ra5 14. O-O-O Nxe5 15. Rxd5 f6
If I set up the position and enter Ng4, the score immediately goes to >+1 (Ply
4) and rises to a clearly winning score rather quickly:
-> 4(21).44 00:00:00.1 +1.02 8. Qxg4 Qxb2 9. Qxg7 Qxa1+ 10. Ke2
...
12(43).01 00:00:15.4 +2.60 8. Qxg4 Qxb2 9. Kd2 Qxa1 10. Nb3 Bxe3+
11. fxe3 Qb2 12. Qxg7 Rf8 13. Nb5 d5 14. Nc7+ Kd7
I haven't really figured out why other programs have such trouble avoiding Ng4,
maybe it has something to do with material or trapped pieces?!
Best regards - Munjong.
