On a machine with no such thing as multiply and with 8 bits as the largest native type, the emulation is going to stink. So, I guess the upshot is that in theory it is possible to port them. In practice, even if it works, it's not going to be pretty. Another possibility is an emulator: http://simh.trailing-edge.com/ Which is the opposite approach. Take an old program and run it on a new machine without having to recompile it.
