On my (much too fast!) P4-2.8 machine several engines sometimes solve a problem in 0 seconds each. On my P3-733 machine one engine needs 2 seconds, one needs 3 seconds, etc. An even slower computer would give a more accurate comparison. When it comes to finding out if an engine is capable of finding the correct move at all, the faster the machine is the better. After 5 minutes on a slow machine I might lose patience and abandon an analysis. In Eduard's example Shredder is capable of making a correct analysis, but is not as fast in doing so as Toga. Ernst's faster computer is better suited to show this.
