hi mark, well thats the ticket. since the advent of the first dedicated chess machines through the advancement of chess software there have been those willing to take the time and apply the effort to exploit the weaknesses in the programs. finding certain lines or applying certain anti computer stradigies to get a win. i had a dedicated machine, cant remember which one that would always lose as black in the 4 knights in about 20 moves if i followed a certain line. now days against modern programs the stradigy seems to be to lock the position and shuffle pieces to win on time in blitz games. this acoounts for the fact that the program uses time to at least look at the position, think a few plies than move. the human knows the position is locked and can move faster. note this wont work at longer time controls as it would sooner or later be a draw,by agreement, repeat or 50 move rule. thus i consider all this hoopla about these games mildly amusing. as you have shown father coached the 2 players for about an hour, and they picked up the stradigy quite easily. you or i could do it if we were so inclined. regards mike
