Golly. I've played in tournaments for about 27 years, and have been upset and scored upsets plenty of times. My first tournament after achieving a master rating, I lost in the first round to a 1750 player. I believe that there was one US Open where IM, later GM, Fedorowicz was upset by a 1600 player, but I don't recall the year. I can believe that you've avoided such upsets up to now, but you must surely have witnessed them in games between other players. Marc
