It speeds up the search too, by not having them. Centipawn evaluation is based on Static Positional factors, and is often incorrect. A high PV does not mean the position is won; in many cases the game is still a Draw. No you can't go wrong. Every legal move in every position is evaluated and ranked in order of the feedback from the Alpha Beta Search function.
