I realize that most of the people on this board shun the use of 3D boards in the Fritz GUI, and prefer the 2D boards. I have room in my heart to pity these poor lost souls. It's just part of my generous nature. However I am one of those rare and truly precious people who prefer the use of the 3D boards. The problem is that in the Fritz 9 GUI, the 3D boards slow the engine down by about a 3rd, as compared to the 2D board, in terms of kNodes/sec. This was not a problem in Fritz 8 (no significant slow down between 3D and 2D), so it seems that this is either a bug, or an unintended consequence of some new 3D graphics feature in Fritz 9. I would be forever grateful... well, lets just say that I would be super happy if someone else could try to duplicate this behavior. It would help to know that it isn't something about my machine or configuration. Also, if anyone knows a workaround I would be super duper colossally happy. And no, switching to the 2D boards doesn't count, because I will not be super duper colossally happy. I will in fact be sad. Very sad. I have submitted a bug report to Chessbase as well, so maybe they will respond with some interesting tidbit. -= Lar
