Subject: Deep Shredder performance on an Apple PowerMac Quad.

I would be interested to compare how Deep Shredder 9 performs on an Apple Quad
in comparison to e.g. a Dual Opteron. I know that Opterons are much better for
chess than G5s (but I didn't buy this for the chess ...)

Using the following test position:

[D]8/p5Nk/3B2pp/8/2PP1pn1/4p3/P3P1Bq/R2R1K2 b - - 0 1

the winning move is ... Nf2

The time taken to find that it is obviously winning: (eval > +2 for Black):

eMac G4 1.25GHz 73.09 sec
Pentium M 1.6GHz 44.58 sec
Quad G5 2.5GHzx4 11.26 sec

The final bit of output from the engine on the Quad is shown below so that you
know which timing I used.

I used the bare engines (no GUI) and the uci commands:

uci
isready
position fen 8/p5Nk/3B2pp/8/2PP1pn1/4p3/P3P1Bq/R2R1K2 b - - 0 1
go infinite
