Hello Ray,
battery life seems to be very good. I've been playing with a Z22 a lot in the
last few days and it still says the battery is full.
I think this is a good unit for playing chess, because it's small and light.
However, the screen is not so good for other uses. Characters are very small and
sometimes difficult to read, and at least my unit has several other problems
with the color screen. Nothing terrible mind you, but try to see one in action
before buying (I couldn't). Even the stylus is a possibly a bit too small.
As for chess, I've not made my mind yet. I started with the idea of buying
Hiarcs but I'm now steering towards Chess Tiger instead. The main reason is that
Hiarcs is very expensive: 35 euro is almost 40% the price of the full PDA (90
euro, bought in the USA) and the demo is so limited that I can't see any
advantage over Chess Tiger or Chess Genius (considering also that I'm not the
least interested in playing strength). But since you already have it, I can
confirm that it runs just fine.

P.S. The Z22 comes with a builtin chess application that I deleted by mistake
and was never able to try! :-)
