Hi all,

Scatha 0.2.12 is now ready for download:

http://www.glaurungchess.com

The most important improvements and changes are:

A simple Apple help book has been added (available from the "Help"
menu, as in all Mac OS X apps). This was written rather quickly, and
I am not sure how helpful it really is. If something important is
incorrect, unclear or missing, please let me know about it.

The default hash table size can be modified from the preferences
dialog. This setting will be used automatically for each new UCI
engine you install. To change the hash table size for an already
installed engine, use the engine configuration dialog (like before).

Several minor PGN import bugfixes. I still haven't found a PGN file
which Scatha 0.2.12 cannot read, but I am sure they exist.

During multi-game engine vs engine matches, the "Adjudicate"
and "Abort Match" buttons now work. Several stability bugfixes.
Engine vs engine matches are now almost completely stable.
The GUI hangs about once in 100 games in engine vs engine
matches. The left and right arrow keys can now be used to take
back and replay moves (the old Command+B and
Shift+Command+F keyboard shortcuts also work).

Scatha is now mature enough to satisfy most of my own chess
GUI needs, but it is still far behind the competition. Mac OS X still
lacks a free, full-featured and user-friendly chess GUI with a
native look and feel, which is a great pity (the best thing we have
is probably Jose, but it looks and feels more like a cross-platform
Java program compiled for OS X than a native OS X application). I
hope that Scatha will eventually be good enough to fill this hole.
In order to get a better notion of what features are the most
important to users, I have included a small user survey in the
Scatha 0.2.12 download. Please spend a few minutes replying to
this survey, and help me to improve Scatha further.
