Subject: Why does this forum have such a problem with interesting people?

Go up one level in this thread

Steen had a bit of an obnoxious turn of phrase a head too large to fit through
doors, but who cares? He had something interesting to say, even if he wasn't
always right. If I look at the posts in the forum, the vast majority are either
requests for information that could be obtained from google in 5 minutes of
search time or posts of results of engine-engine matches.

Where are the people talking about new search techniques?
Where are the commented games from which we can learn and actually improve our
engines rather then just noting that X played Y games against Z with score Q ?
Where are the people talking about hardware and techinques to use its to its
fullest?
What about the interesting test positions - I don't see a single one!

Michael Drexel is a intelligent, eloquent man (despite not being an English
native) who is talented at chess. Steen appears to be the same. Why can't they
have their argument? In the end, they will both learn something. Or at least
we will :) IMO they both had valid and interesting things to say. Hell, even
Uri made some real contributions. Instead Steen is moderated and flamed until
he leaves. The same thing happened to the whole Marc Lacrosse / Jeroen Noomen
thread. The same thing happens every time Vincent posts. Sure, they are not
always right. Who cares? they at least have something interesting to say.

You guys need to learn to be more tolerant of other viewpoints. If every post
was "And I agree" this would be a perfectly harmonious and perfectly boring
forum. If a post is filled with interesting content and has a few jabs, can't
we let it slide? We are adults here.

There are a few people here that I would love to ban. Uri is always nitpicking
my sentences. Pablo is doing his best to annoy me with his anti-chess. I'm
sure there are people who would love to ban me. That's just life. We don't have
to all get along. There is a reason way more interesting stuff happened during
the 60s, 70s, and 80s when compared to the 50s.
