B.S.

It's true that certain threads of A. Steen's proposed a clear point of view with
solid ground but the vast amount of others were full of condescending remarks
(and often insults) to well respected, long-term members of this forum.

I agree that it is great of have members of this forum that do not subscribe to
the "greater majority" thoughts and viewpoints -- but it is possible to argue
one's point while giving respect to others.

This individual (whoever he was and however intelligent he was) was clearly
seeking attention and substantiation of his own importance and intellect -- even
if it meant (and usually did) totally disrespecting others in the process.
Couple such negativity and condescending remarks with the fallacy of 'always
having to be right' and you have exactly the mess and upset we've seen in the
forum the last few weeks...

To me, such negativity does not outweigh what little positive that was present.
So enough with the cries of "censorship", "CCC is back in the stoneages" and
other remarks of "great loss" regarding A. Steen's departure. Those CCC members
that are "thrill-seekers" that need drama and confrontation in their everyday
lives can turn the television on (Jerry Springer, etc.) and enjoy. I, for one,
remember the old days of chaos and abuse in rec.games.chess.computer -- if
losing a few A. Steen's along the way is what it takes to keep CCC's atmosphere
positive and useful, great.

Even you, yourself, have undergone a bit of a "change of heart" since the
rec.games.chess.computer days I speak of above. Aren't you happier now? ;)

Regards,
