I searched this a bit in Crafty, and the suggested move (Bb5, IIRC) had a score of +0.4x, and Qd2 had a +0.3x score. A possible reason that Qd2 is played most often is for development and to avoid early tactics. I followed some of the lines in Crafty's book after Qd2 (built from your .pgn files. :) and the captures (Nxc6, etc.) do not show up until at least a few moves later. One interesting thing is that after following these book lines, white's score kept improving as more moves were made from the 'suggested' moves in book. I will search this tonight by letting it run until morning to see what it thinks. Jeremiah
