I quickly wanted to point out that Wine is not an emulator. It actually reverse engineers windows instructions. This basically means that performance is comparable to native execution except for certain operations which are usually not common in chess engines (such as reading from the filesystem). For what it's worth, I can vouch that Shredder 9 UCI running under Wine in Linux is comparable in performance to Shredder 9 running under windows on the same machine.
