Is it one of the vector models ( YMP, C90, J90 etc)
or one of the T3D / T3E models? These two families have different binary
formats. Also i suspect Crafty will not do very well on a T3E without a LOT of
tweeking. (Sorry, i don't have access to either to help with compiling.) I have
heard that GCC is not a lot worse, and is occasionally better, than the
commercial compilers on these machines, but it's hard to imagine a Cray being
sold without the commercial compilers installed. I think having an expert recode
the rotated bit-board stuff in assembler might be a significant win on a Cray.
Assumptions about word size often come unstuck on Cray vector machines (short,
int, long are all 64 bits!) but Bob has been around long enough that he probably
didn't get caught by this?
