Tactically Rybka is not weak. Even in standard "very positional" mode it scores better than e.g. Fruit 2.2.1 is most/all test suites - stunning! Fritz or Shredder are slightly better in that part of game. But best it's strength is best confirmed in my 60 position AVOID test suite. Some scores: Rybka 51 Shredder 9 49 Fritz 9 48 Fruit 2.2.1 40 SOS 5 38 Ruffian 1.0.5 33 Crafty 19.19 31 I have feeling, that best test suite just contains "avoid move" positions and not finding combinations. For endgame tests Rybka 1.0 is not suited at all :-) Jouni
