Hello Chesscomputerfriends! Bearing the latest results of Rybka in mind it is fair to say that 2005 has been a fatastic year for computerchess. At the beginning of 2005 things were a bit bored; Shredder was the undisputed number 1 in almost all tests and I didn't believe at that time that any engine in 2005 would be able to threat the position of Shredder 9. Well, I was (fortunately) clearly wrong! First we had the sensational Fruit 2.1, then a surprising strong Fritz 9 followed by an equal strong Fruit 2.2.1. And finally we have what might will be the biggest sensation of 2005; Rybka. And it ain't over yet...... who knows what Hiarcs 10 which should be available soon is able to do? Does anyone think that 2006 can become better than 2005? Best regards Per
