I for one, agree with Stephen here.

Testing engines with different books is completely valid, in fact most authors
would insist you use "their" book. And 40/40 is speed chess. Contrary to the
opinion of others in this forum, in such games time is too often a factor in the
play. In such cases I don't think you're accurately evaluating the strategic
capabilities of an engine, and I strongly prefer much longer time controls.
40/40 is just beginning to get into the acceptable time range. I want to know
the strength of an engine at playing chess, not managing time. There will be
those that disagree with me; I guess I'm enough of an independent thinker that
it doesn't change my mind.
