Freeware is allowed, and the engine was indeed freely available, even if for a
very short time span. The author was fairly forthcoming, and other than to say
what his plans were regarding the intended asking price as well as what can be
expected, hasn't made any demands. In fact, it might have reduced the risk of an
even greater amount of Rybka-related posts (if that is at all possible) by
answering some of those questions upfront.

My understanding of the charter in practice, is that making an isolated or some
isolated announcements regarding the commercial release of a program is ok.
Afterall, it would be beyond strange to find that one couldn't learn about new
and interesting programs/engines to buy in a forum dedicated to the subject. It
is no worse than announcing and linking to old dedicated units available for
purchase at certain auction sites... (cough!). Anyhow, the site Mimic linked to
was almost unviewable in Firefox, and no link worked.
