As I say, I don't have a problem.

In my opinion the charter's section about it being non commercial is to avoid
flagrant commercial advertising from the publishers e.g. "Buy Chess XXXXXX for
$19.95 - this weekend only" or "Announcement - Chess XXXX The Strongest Program
in the World - Get it Here". But I cannot see anything wrong with someone who
is not connected with a program (e.g. Mimic) saying that something is available.
This is not a freeware only forum and it would be 'odd' if new developments,
free or commercial, were not discussed. I would say that Mimic's post is less
commercial than your posts that point people to eBay - effectively your posts
are pointing people to a specific commercial transaction / auction. BTW I have
no objection to your posts either - I just note the similarity.

As for the process of freeware beta testing to commercial, I don't have a
problem either. Vasik actually stated in the accompanying read-me that the
program is going to become commercial. So everyone who "tested" the program is
under no illusion that if they make any comments or suggestions they will
benefit Vasik. If anyone has a problem with this they are free to not download
the beta - there is no compulsion. How can this be objectionable? Yes Vasik
has created a buzz for his program by releasing the beta but he is giving
something away for free that never expires. What's his alternative - private
beta testing so fewer people can experience the program? I'd personally rather
have a version that is freely available so I can see for myself if it's really
as strong as others say.

Regards,

Steve
