Hi Alan, Interesting problem you had. I bought my DGT board 3 months ago and have never had any piece recognition problems. Not once. Anyway, Fritz and Arena support the DGT Board natively, and pretty well in my experience. You just need to put the latest dgt driver dll file in the chessbase folder, otherwise the native chessbase program could still use an older driver with inpredictable results. The chessmaster gui is way more finicky though. DGT put out a piece of software (gamekeeper) that acts as go-between between the chessmaster winboard gui and the chessmaster engine. So you have to do some setup work to get the DGT board to work in chessmaster. Once you do though, it plays pretty well. Read the installation instructions carefully, as you need to do quite a few things for it to work. My only complaint about this solution is that it takes about a second for your more to register on chessmaster, and in a blitz game that can be fatal. On the lack of LED's to display the move, I merely turn on the verbal move announcements in both chessmaster gui as well as Fritz gui. Then I never have to look at the screen. I have no direct experience playing with the DGT range of clocks and the DGT board together, although the Gamekeeper readme does state that, when using the chessmaster gui, the clock can sometimes get one move behind. Not sure how this affects your gameplay though... Regards, Jaco
