Kurt,

Does anyone really use the 3D graphics while playing these programs, either
human or engine to engine games? Do you in your matches? It would appear 3D is
more appealing to children and this is not meant to insult anyone who likes it.
I never install it. It's just my personal preference. My recognition and
concentration of the game is difficult enough in 2D!

Knowing these programs have to appeal to many different people is understandable
but I could do without the 1,000,000 games and eventually I make and use my own
opening book with good or better results than the default book. I understand
many cannot or do not wish to do this.

Most of the Chessbase advertising for new updates could be substituted for all
their programs. Eliminate the name of the program and the authors and they
become nearly a universal advertisement. It's simply good marketing to many. No
one has to advertise a BMW to me, its reputation is already evident!

Regardless, I am a Hiarcs enthusiast too and will certainly buy it but not
because of the Chessbase advertising. I buy them because of the talent and
respect of the author and bookmaker and the diversity of the program. I'll wait
until the first "update" comes out and then I'll buy it. It's been too long for
Hiarcs 10 but it's finally here.

A good candidate for your "Amateur vs. Professional" tournament? :)
