I compiled and tested Crafty 19.19 on a Dual Dual PowerMac G5 2.5 Ghz. The results are below. Unfortunately with the disappearance of Posix Threads fom Crafty sources since version 20 the SMP code of newer versions will not compile for ppc anymore. Crafty v19.19 (1 cpus) White(1): bench Running benchmark. . . ...... Total nodes: 96761642 Raw nodes per second: 1640027 Total elapsed time: 59 SMP time-to-ply measurement: 10.847458 White(1): mt 4 max threads set to 4 White(1): bench Running benchmark. . . ...... Total nodes: 112526607 Raw nodes per second: 5922453 Total elapsed time: 19 SMP time-to-ply measurement: 33.684211 White(1): quit The 4-way Opterons will get something above 8 MNPS if I remeber correctly, but the lack on ineger performance of the PowerPC G5 compared with the Athlon64/Opteron is well known and not surprising. Still almost 6 MNPS is not bad. Maybe I will give Deep Shredder a try. regards Andy
