You should not believe everything based on some few games. The better engine can lose the first 4 games in a row, and people get excited and write dissappointed messages. In the Blitz rating lists of Robert Allgeuer and of the CEGT Fruit(2.2, btw) performs great, and these listings are based on many games and maintained by experienced people and experts. There is the opinion that Fruit performs even some better at longer time controls, again CEGT for example supports this opinion, explanations would have to come from experts, but generally spoken: some search techniques work better with short time, some better with long time (yea, you see, I am an expert ;-) time control without increment is another thing, there is no reason to avoid it, imho, it is fun and the best engines should handle this well, but in general using these time controls makes the games a little bit less reliable, no doubt. So better experiment with some different playing conditions and dont be too fast in drawing conclusions. Peter
