Hi Gordon, I just had a look at game 4 in your match Rybka-Shredder. Rybka was white here but found itself very uncomfortable after the opening. For white, this is a very passive variation - early giving up lots of space to black - leading to a cramped position for white. Obviously that didn't suit Rybka at all. It couldn't find a plan but instead tried to shuffle pieces for a standstill. 16.Nf3-h4, 17.Nh4-f3, 18.Nf1-d2, 19.Nd2-f1, 20.Nf1-d2 etc... 1) You clearly see the value of a book suited to the engine. 2) This variation should not be chosen for Rybka in the coming book - nor should similar cramped positions.
