The evidence (requested by someone ) that fruit may be poor at short time controls is below. In contrast, fritz 8 seems rather strong People have hypothesized that it is due to poor time management. I have seen fruit make very bad use of time in 2 12 time controls, but fruit seems to use time similarly to other engines at 5 0. However, to reduce the issue of time management, i followed someones suggestion and ran 1 1 tournements (see below). Fruit 2.2.1 is still a bit crappy. why does fruit 2.2. look so weak? this is running on a pentium 2 ghz 598 mhz, 1 gb ram. Nunn 2 test set the first set is from a 5 0 tournement, which i stopped because someone suggested it is better to run it at 1 1 . fritz 8 35.5/54 rybka 30.5/52 spike 1 29.5/53 fritz 9 29.5 /53 toga 1.1 28/53 fruit 2.2 25.5/53 pro deo 1.1 21.5/54 ruffian 2.1 21/53 list 512 18/53 Tournement 1 minute + 1 sec increment (in progress) fritz 9 20/29 toga II.1 19/29 fritz 8 18/30 rybka 1. 0 16/28 spike 1.0a 13/28 pro deo 12.5/30 fruit 2.2 12.5/29 ruffian 2.1 11.0/29 list 512 9/29 Maybe fruit will turn it around and start winning more in a couple of hundred games. Has anybody else observed this weakness (and therefore can save me the trouble of running the tournement)
