yes, i'm familiar with the 40 4 results, where fruit does much better....The time controls i am using are distintively shorter. Also, I wonder how much of the rating on the CEGT are due to programs using their prefered book versus programs bing forced to play a wide variety of positions. I'd really prefer a program that can handle all the chess positions well, because the program is a tutor for me. What do i care if a program is brilliant at handling some special lines in its book but does not know how to defend against the yugoslov attack, for example?
