Subject: why the rybka craze? (and to some extent the fruit 2.2. craze)

i agree the focus on rybka is a bit crazed. The engine is indeed amazing in the
opening and middle game, but i don't think this is the reason for the craze.

I think maybe it is because rybka and fruit 2.2. are competing, and beating, the
 commercial engines of chessbase. there is something thrilling about the lone
programer being able to outthink and out create the big companies. It is about
the victory of the individual over the coporate machine.

just some crazy thoughts
