Apparently so.
Your code is better than 3/4 of the chess programs that are open source.

Also, anyone who can write a functional chess program is better than the average
programmer (who would fail in the attempt).

You would think that only the brightest and the best would be attracted to
programming.  But this is not the case.  There are a lot of nitwit programmers.
