  Yes, that's true. I have played automatical games between my program
Capture and some Fritz engines and I was astonished to see that in some KPRKR
endgames, Fritz loses his rook, converting a drawn endgame into a lost
endgame! But the mistake is to use a database which only tells that the
stronger side doesn't win. For most of these positions, any move will lead
to a draw, but in some situations, you can lose (the stronger side is in check
and moves the king without protecting his rook).
  I don't see a simple way to use theses bases and avoid this problem (you
must add some "engine thinking" to the knowledge of the database, awful!).
  Using the tablebases is the solution.
