Your suggestion is a sound one.  Crafty's epd processor (written by Steven
Edwards himself) has excellent EPD analysis to ensure that the position is
valid.  I would like a more descriptive message than:
"Fault in epd processing"
though.  I have added my own messages from time to time, but then they would get
wiped out with the next iteration of Crafty, since I don't have a source control
project operational for it.
