I dont know the statistics of how many chessplayers are interested in computer
chess, but my non chess playing friends interest gets arouse when they see human
versus machine. Many of them dont know the moves, they just count who has the
more pieces is winning and get shock when the one with more material resigns. It
gves them curiosity to explore chess.

Yup, the game Go is still a big challenge to computers.

Im not suggesting that we change the rule now, only when a common pc can beat
100% of all humans. a little rule change like pawn able to go back might be a
big diffrence and the game is still close to the original in "spirit"

Its good to hear that there are still people who can beat comps like ... a6
....h6.
