I think he just did that to have the heat turned down on the banning decision.
Moderating can be such a pain.
I did a term at CTF, and in one rather funny episode (only funny a LOT later) I
had decided that I was wasting my breath discussing something with a poster in
the forum, and said as much. Lo and behold, we the moderators got an e-mail
complaining about this and demanding I be compelled to continue the discussion.
I kid you not. When he found that I was one of the moderators, he decided that
he would pursue it via the moderator e-mail forms. Eventually the fellow had to
be banned in order to stop the lunacy.
