Yes, I know. But we are discussing pronounciation, not spelling.
The mapping between pronounciation and spelling in English is
extremely irregular, as we all know. The letter "y" can can be
pronounced in several different ways in English, and most of
them do not resemble the vowel sound in "Rybka" at all
(consider the words "type" and "yes", for instance).
The vowel sound we are discussing does not exist in English, but
the closest equivalent I can find is the "i" in "bit". Better suggestions
are welcome.
