I did not mean to blame the Philidor. In fact, the first chess book I read was
"My System", by Aron Nimzovich, and he was playing it very frequently. It is a
bit passive and out of fashion, but it is definitely playable, and it may be a
good solid alternative in games when you don't want to play the sharp Dragon.
