some the very first dedicated chess computers released in the late 1970's would
allow illegal moves
they would allow the human to capture the computers King even from the starting
position

so for example.. you could play Q on D1 takes K on E8

NOTE
the computer would not make illegal moves but would allow the human to make them

NOTE
this was not so good because after the human captures the computers King it
leaves the human without a future plan to continue the game
