did you know that there is a Dutchman, Rob van Son, who a few years
>ago, built his own Chess Robot? Out of old washing-machine parts? >

hi Eelco
yes i know Rob very well actually
we are in email contact on a regular basis and have had a few trades together in
the past

he writes articles for Selective Search regarding many things involving the
dedicated computers..the annual Gebroikers tourny, interviews and he even wrote
an article about the Novag Robot some years ago

i dont know if you are joking about the "washing machine" Robot because he never
mentioned this to me and i did receive his 2005 CHESS Calender as a Xmas gift
where each month was a photo of a different chess playing Robot

even if he did build such a "Frankenstein "Robot it could not qualify for the
rare pages as only computers released for sale are allowed

the one exception was the Boris Handroid prototype ...but this was allowed on
the rare pages because no one believed that the owner really had it and to prove
it Kurt shows it on the rare page..

and the owner did not have to even pay the application fee
:))

General Electric (GE)Regards
Steve
