I have created around 1600 PGN-files from games found in CCC posts from 1997 until now and turned them into attachments to the original posts. The total number of games in the PGN-files is probably close to 30.000. Only games that were found at the end of a post were moved to an attachment. So, a signature or even a single "Enjoy!" as the last line of a message would cause that post to be skipped. The only exception was that I removed any quotes from previous messages from the bottom of each post before further processing. The search for valid games was rather strict and games with even some of the most common mistakes, or deviations from the PGN standard, were skipped. The search started at the end of the message and stopped when no more games or an invalid game was found. An attachment for a post was only created if more than 5valid games were found. The biggest number of games found in a single post was 333 and the size of that PGN-file is over 1.5MB. The total size of all the PGN-files is over 70MB. All games were tested for valid moves and reformatted to conform better to the PGN standard. Still, there are bound to be some errors. If errors are found or the parsing of the messages is improved the process of generating the attachments can be repeated. Here is an example of an attachment: http://hornid.com/cgi-bin/ccc/topic_show.pl?tid=64209 Users who log into the forum can view a list of all the attachments.
